Monet Richardson Community Foundation
I worked with 8 classmates as public relations assistants for the Monet Richardson Community Foundation, a local nonprofit. We worked throughout the semester to create multiple AP-style news releases and pitch them to local news, manage the MRCF's WordPress website, and create and distribute a newsletter through Mailchimp.
As a member of the MRCF's social media team, two of my classmates and I created four months worth of social media content for at least three posts a week. Our efforts resulted in a 617% increase in accounts reached and a 56% increase in engagement on the foundation's Instagram.
My team and I ran the Instagram and Facebook for the foundation throughout the fall 2023 semester. As we learned over the course of the semester, a nonprofit requires a unique approach to social media as you must relate to people and spread positivity, while also spreading awareness about a typically heartbreaking situation.
