Coursework
Throughout my time in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media, I’ve taken incredible courses, including four where I was able to work for clients for the length of the semester. My hard work has resulted in a 3.9 cumulative GPA, as well as making the Dean’s List every semester.
I spent the fall semester in Sports Communication led by Livis Freeman, where my classmates and I had the opportunity to create a communications campaign surrounding sustainability for the 2025 Speedway Classic. Working with Major League Baseball (MLB) and FOX Sports University provided invaluable client experience, and allowed me to nerd out about my lifelong passion for baseball.
Taking on the role of Project Manager was a choice I jumped into wholeheartedly, and I couldn’t be more grateful I decided to take that risk.
After a semester filled with brainstorming sessions, late-night edits, filming, and lots of team bonding, I couldn't be prouder to share that our team, Bullpen Media, was chosen by MLB and FOX Sports as the winners of the campaign.
MEJO 377 - Sports Communication
In Public Relations Campaigns with Dean Dixon-Green, my 25 classmates and I had the opportunity to dive into what mirrored a real-life PR agency. My team of 13 and I spent the semester developing a full-fledged public relations campaign for Hussman's FIRST international client!
Working with Golin, the International PR Agency of the Year, provided invaluable real-world agency experience that I can't wait to take with me into professional life. Not to mention, I worked with an incredible team and Dean Dixon-Green is an unrivaled coach.
MEJO 634 - PR Campaigns
MEJO 332 - PR Writing
In the fall of 2023, I took a public relations writing course, where I learned how to write and format several crucial public relations documents. To the right, you can see my first media kit, which consists of a public relations plan, news release, and fact sheet for the client Micato Safaris.
Additionally, this course paired us with a local non-profit to work as their public relations team throughout the semester. You can click the button below to learn more about my work with the Monet Richardson Community Foundation.
MEJO 577 - Branding of Me
Every college campus has classes that students across majors and disciplines want to take. At the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media, one of those classes is Gary Kayye💜's "The Branding of Me." Throughout the semester, my classmates and I worked to build our personal brands, ultimately working to differentiate ourselves from the hundreds of thousands of other college students receiving their diplomas in May 2025.
One key component of this course was our personal blog. Throughout the semester, I blogged twice a week about everything from my personal life and passions to brand’s latest PR moves.
